Thanks to everyone who contributed and made #RTGConnect such a valuable exchange! For 2 days around 60 PhDs from DFG-funded Research Training Groups came together in Bonn - to share experiences, discuss challenges and make their voices heard. And we took a chance to listen to improve the programme.

1. CRISPR came from basic research on bacteria. 2. Optogenetics started with a discovery in algae. 3. The GFP protein comes from jellyfish. The biggest breakthroughs all trace to scientists following their curiosity, and this is one huge reason why we must keep funding basic research!
