If you're reacting to this thread with "Why isn't my opinion as valuable as any so-called critic's?" you are -- how shall I put this? -- the problem. You see a statement that a profession you're not in has value, and your first thought is "I'm being insulted!" You're how we got here.
Show PostI'm late to it, but I just read Miranda July's novel All Fours and thought it was completely extraordinary--one of the most intimate books about a marriage and sex and dissatisfaction and yearning and sadness and selfishness that I've read. Like, actually troubling. I devoured it and it devoured me.

Much as I would not dare to predict the consequences of this war, I do think we can summarize it thusly so far: A smart and evil man manipulated a stupid and evil man into a war against a fanatical and evil regime.
