It's arguably not the worst thing he's done but Trump's sign off of 'thank you for paying attention to this matter' is so insufferably pompous.
Show Post(Worth noting also that for Conservative MPs, the 2018 vote on restoration and renewal was a free vote and plenty of Tories voted for the motion, so this isn’t an unfair criticism of Badenoch just following the whip as a new-ish MP.)
Show PostI am not as cynical (nihilistic?) as you - I think most people are happy to follow and even enforce social norms if they are clear. The purpose of occasional bouts of enforcement activity is to establish and entrench the norm, which in LR makes life a bit better for everyone.
Show PostI don't agree, for trains at least. Train staff now routinely have cameras on them, and they already interact with all passengers to check tickets on long train journeys. Dishing out warnings and fines should be feasible in such circumstances - hostile reactions could risk criminal conviction.
Show PostAgree its trickier on buses unless they have conductors, something Burnham seems to have conceded by saying bus drivers won't be expected to enforce. Perhaps some bouts of high profile police enforcement activity to get the norm established?
