I read The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden. She is not a Canadian author, but this fiction book is about Canadian soldiers/nurses in WW1 and also covers the Halifax explosion. It may not be to everyone’s taste as there is some supernatural in it, but I loved the book.
