The article is great! Sorry if I sounded harsh, but I'm afraid only the very privileged and lucky can benefit from your article. It's extremely difficult to became a PI in the UK right now, with no open positions or demands for an awarded fellowship at 8% success rate for a temp job.

Golden advice here: it is best to not hire anyone if you are unsure. I have advertised my PhD positions multiple rounds when I was not convinced and I am so glad I did!
