What matters to me is units of heat per units of cost. The cost, of course, would include the capital cost of replacing a functional gas furnace with a new heat pump. Ignoring capital costs seems to be a rookie mistake.

The obvious solution is to just nominate a candidate that people like. What is with the pathological obsession with nominating shitty candidates and then demanding that people fall in line? Just pick someone good.
