7 hours stood on a stool and after a couple of flight views I finally saw the Rufous Tailed Robin including its Rufous Tail. Knackered but very happy 😃

Struck it lucky as I was preparing to leave the site today after 2 + hours of poor but reasonable binocular views. Then a WOW photo moment! CHESTNUT BUNTING at Baltasound, Unst. Thanks Brydon Thomason for finding this incredible bird, 2nd record for Britain. #rarebirds #shetland

Unlike the predictable movements of seasonal migrant birds who follow an annual cycle, the movements of irruptive migrants such as Bohemian Waxwings are highly irregular & sudden, often driven by food availability 🍒 📷 @rebeccaonthewing.bsky.social

Back at Flamborough South Landing for seconds of the Rufous-tailed Robin today. Patience rewarded with excellent, albeit brief, views of this mega vagrant. Unless you're eight feet tall, you might want to consider bringing a step ladder! Robin image courtesy of Graham Jepsom. #ukbirding
