what science-fiction is there that presents very powerful sentient computers as essentially benevolent forces? off the top of my head, Metavac in Asimov, Minds in IMB, ships in Ancillary series, Thunderhead in Scythe, HER. Much more common when the AI is person-scaled (robots, in particular).
