Republicans spent the last two years trying to rile up the MAGA base with red-meat attacks on different groups -- non-white immigrants, LGBTQ people, academics, etc etc -- but none of it resonated in a failing economy with gas and grocery prices spiking. All they did was motivate their opponents.
