“The end of acute infection is not necessarily the end of the disease”. I very much appreciate this comment in Nature highlighting the role of infectious disease in the development or exacerbation of chronic disease. Vaccines can prevent chronic diseases, which is often overlooked.

It's a fact not often brought up that a substantial portion of rock + metal bands across all genres have members who started with music as kids in school band. Drummers in particular are often born + raised in those bandrooms, tapping clapped-out snare drums + toms.
Show PostThe marching band was often their first real taste of regular performance, as well as consistent group practice, + many first extracurricular rock bands formed in friend-groups made in the bleachers + on the busses.
Show PostMost of those early bands barely survived to graduation, of course; but a few of their members "caught the bug" there, + it never left them. They may have left the trumpet or sousaphone behind, but the identity of "musician" became permanent.
