Buck Martinez was traded to #Bluejays in 1981 and, aside from a brief dalliance with Baltimore after JP Ricciardi fired him as #Jays manager, he has been part of this city and country ever since. Quite literally no one has been associated with the team as long as he has. It’s remarkable.

Maybe it hurts extra because we might not be back for a long time. The feeling around the World Series everywhere I went was unity. Canadians from coast to coast to coast. People who don't normally watch baseball. Distant family and lapsed friends who made contact again after years.
