אחת הביקורות המוזרות בעיני על האודיסאה היא ״פוסט טראומה היא מושג מודרני״ - כן, נולאן לא טען שהוא אובחן על ידי פסיכיאטר עם התמחות בטראומה - הוא מדבר על אדם שמכיר במחיר של המעשים שלו. זה נראה לי היה קיים גם לפני הפסיכולוגיה המודרנית.
