A theater of dreams is very fitting for imagination's equivalent to the courthouse of reason. Perhaps intuition has a temple
Show PostI've started remembering my dreams much more clearly recently. I have no way to prove a connection, but I'm going to blame Descartes for me waking up worried that I would get in trouble for throwing a rock through a window and breaking into a theater.
Show PostThe main criticism of Descartes is he just thinks he thinks, which is not just absurd but ridiculous; and there are also the circularity objections, which I admit are at least tricky. But Spinoza nuked the circularity objections, which for some reason scholars ignore.
Show PostOkay, we'll say pre-Socratic philosophy was prehistorical, because the Platonists lost or destroyed all of it. But Descartes and Spinoza were overall right and just got some details wrong. I have trouble believing it would have made much difference to their reception if they got everything right.
Show PostUsing the word "objectively" regarding something aesthetic is a massive strike against anyone talking about art
