Today is a great example of why the Dow Jones is a bad index to follow. United Health is 1.2% of the S&P 500. But 9.0% of the Dow Jones. Why? Because the DJIA allocates weight based on the size of the stock price, rather than the size of the market cap. Which is dumb.
