Wrote a book about the institutional violence justified by the authoritarian fairy tales in which human nature (ours) needs to be held in check by superior human nature (theirs) in crises. Including stuff about elite panic, a term disaster sociologists coined, because that's often who goes berserk.

Sure as hell looks like those who argued that giving Trump this discretionary tariff power (which should rest with Congress), with plenty of leeway to do nothing to punish Russia, were right that this was a mistake.
