I'm reading a book where a family moved from NYC to a rural house in Georgia. They pulled up to their new house and their cat immediately jumped out of the car and ran off and the mom was like, "Don't worry. He's just an outdoor cat now! He'll be fine." to her kid. I might have to stop reading it.

I really thought that this would not be controversial since even the most diehard science-denying British outdoor cat dweebs would agree that an indoor city cat in a totally new place with no familiar smells should not be let out immediately but here we are. 🤷‍♀️
