Now that my “defeatism is bad” post has gotten enough “no, defeatism is good” and “how can you say that everything is fine” replies, I’m muting it. I don’t think it’s hard to hold both “bad, and will almost certainly get worse” and “not all-powerful, nor forever” in your head at the same time.
