With a lot of my maternal family members I’ve been soft NC for years. They don’t know my phone number or address and I like to keep it that way. I’ll be civil at gatherings but I never really told them I’m done and the reason is their behavior over the years. It’s the first time I’ve ever done it.

I’m really proud of myself. For the first time in my life I hard confronted a maternal family member about their bullshit. I think it’s only hitting me how significant that is. I’m the first one who stood up and said no more. I initiated no contact.
