I still see what appears to be illegal immigrants locally on construction type jobs (ie roofers, road repair etc.). Hasn't noticeably changed since the racist orange menace took office again. I'm guessing the construction company owners have to payoff some gop politicians.

Also underlying NYT position: we can’t tell the unvarnished truth because then certain sources won’t talk to us. And certain readers won’t read. I bet the opposite: if they tell the whole truth, it exposes weakness and encourages more sources to come forward.
