I think a lot of it is down to the media guidance to politicians essentially being 'don't make a mistake'. Amongst other things, that makes it harder to follow an argument through, and to think on your feet.

Yeah it is *physically impossible* to care for 4-5 kids to the degree now excepted. Not enough hours in the day. I’m sure I saw a study saying fathers now spend as many hours on childcare per childcare as *mothers* did in the 50s. And mothers still do more than fathers!
