I got an invite from a professor who asked if I'd be on his podcast, but could not guarantee it would drive any sales of the book. Not to undercut my mission here, but folks, there's nothing I would like more than to be on your academic, obscure, or niche podcast. I'll go on the big ones, too.

Totally agree. I wrote a similar column when the CJ did a round of layoffs years ago; less journalists in the area/state hurts us all.

i was one of the H-L journalists laid off today. working in my home state for a paper i respected for years was an honor and a privilege. i got to work with some of the industry's best who were also let go and this community is worse off for it
