Nice read! Agreed that a well-fitting model isn't necessarily the true mechanism. And in health and psychiatry, even a good model reaches the clinic slowly. For LLMs it's harder still: the model is largely opaque, so the mechanism is even tougher to pin down.

The amount of times I have used LLMs and noticed them severely lacking in critical analyses with many incorrect assumptions, particularly on the edge-cases of knowledge, is astounding. If reviewers are using AI to help review articles this is a tragedy for new ideas and science! I beg, don't.

I am delighted to share our new paper! nature.com/articles/s41... Lizzie Kleeman & our Florey Institute team, with WEHI, UoM & others, found that paternal COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2 infection) can alter sperm & offspring phenotypes, including anxiety. This discovery has major (brain) health implications!
