Such a rule inherently assumes that all laws and all judgements are just. I think we both agree that is not the case. Say you fuck up real bad and get a felony DUI in college. You spend the next 20 years sober and helping people get sober. You become a community leader. And are still deemed lacking.

Felons can become the President of the United States, and that is (current president not withstanding) something that Americans should be proud of. It affirms a belief in rehabilitation, remediation, and in the inherent good of human beings. It affirms our belief in justice beyond just her blade.

Look, he is a public figure and nobody knows who the victim is. Obviously, he does not want his life to be over, nor in my opinion it should be. I understand if someone does not want to engage with him anymore, but he has a right to still be a public figure and make statements regarding himself.
