@duckinwales.bsky.socialPolypodium macaronesicum and Neotinea maculata on a stone wall 🥰
Show Post11/10/26 #Madeira - With a little help, I was able to track down this lovely rare fern! Lolegnam’s #Fern (Asplenium lolegnamense) is one of the Rustyback #Ferns of the A. cererach group and endemic to Macaronesia. It grows on North-facing walls in the centre of the island, and they’re quite big!
Show Post11/10/26 #Madeira - I love a good wall community 🥰 Polypodium macaronesicum (a close relative of Southern Polypody #Fern, P. cambricum) and a rosette of Neotinea maculata, one of the most widely-distributed European #orchids
Show PostContinuing my theme of "Why would a bat weighing 6g do this??" look what Mike did last night. 👀 (yellow highlight). At 18.40, he was holidaying in Prestatin. By half past midnight he was in Cardiff. In a straight line that's 130 miles in under 6 hours. #bats #wildlife #movementecology
Show PostWent looking on Arthur's Seat for the hybrid between forked spleenwort and wall rue. Couldn't find anything convincing near the BSBI DDb grid ref provided by @bramblebotanist.bsky.social, best shout this plant along the road above, looking interestingly different from adjacent wall-rue (pic 2).
