Honestly? I think it's because Cartoon Network and Disney Channel were backed by already global family brands in most regions (Warner Bros Animation and Disney, respectively), and Nickelodeon always felt more American and largely refused to adapt to their international markets.

I know Nick is domestically a bigger brand than CN. Always had been. But CN's not fading away. Much like Nick, CN has scores of shows and brands in its arsenal, and a lot of them are globally popular as well as region-specific. The world is bigger than the United States, you know.

I really think Warner Animation Group’s biggest fumble was releasing two Lego spin-off films 7 months apart in 2017. It created audience fatigue too quickly before The Lego Movie’s proper sequel dropped in 2019.
