Stock indexes constantly replace underperforming stocks with higher performing ones. They cook the books. Its not a measure of the economy in any way. Its always going up because they force it to.

As an investor, the stock market represents a portion of the economy and is usually a trustworthy tool to see when things start to turn. Also, as an investor, I’m waiting for the bottom to fall out, as it did in 2008 when consumer protections were thrown out the window like they are now.
