The AI industry has spent billions pushing the message of their religion, one that's already been pushed by every science fiction story with a computer in it. As I say, it's unnecessary overreach: 'this software will write your letters for you' is already a great pitch, you don't need the goblin.

If an AI person is claiming that Microsoft Excel isn't conscious, but the LLM they're selling is, then ... they should be able to point to the difference, the quality that makes it so. Explain how, ideally, but explain what to start with.
