this is reminiscent of the moral panic against trans youth, which started out on blogs for parents who didn't want to believe their own kids were trans. some of those parents went on to write books, create organizations, & position themselves "experts" on the issue

I had to take a break from talking to my dad a few times, but we always worked it out eventually contrariwise, I went through a whole big reconciliation with my mother in my early/mid twenties but eventually learned that relationship wasn't fixable they don't own you set your own boundaries
