I'm not going to embarrass myself and claim I'm anywhere near a good cook, but I can make enough stuff to serve something different every night of the week, maybe even two. By going online, I'm sure I can find ways to arrange things differently, too. I make a pretty mean JP curry (goop) and ribs.
Show PostIndeed! When I lived on my own, I kept my food budget cheap so I could afford my hobbies. Led to me experimenting a lot with different ways to use the same stuff to keep them interesting. As long as you have a "canvas" food (rice, potato, bread, etc) you can build on that with whatever you have!
Show PostRice and beans last ages, and eggs aren't so expensive anymore. If you've got some seasonings, you've got a pretty good meal in those ingredients alone. It's easy and people have been doing it for centuries for a reason. Add some canned/frozen veggies into the mix and it's healthy too!
Show PostAnd yeah, I just saw that too. Some people thrive on contrarianism and make it their mission to take any sort of positivity and spin it into unnecessary browbeating. It's very true though. If you've got the means to bring water to a boil, you can make real, healthy food with cheap options.
Show PostCooking is the absolute best. It makes you appreciate what goes into your food, and the insane margins some restaurants make on things like pizza.
