So if a gazillion people seem to have accidentally voted one way before switching to the other, it's super easy to tell. You can also easily tell which machines (if any) had an unusual number of corrections, because the receipt tape indicates which machine it was printed on.

Ohio has electronic voting machines, but there's a paper audit. You have to approve what's printed on the receipt tape before your vote is actually cast, and if something prints wrong and you fix it, the receipt shows the whole thing.
