SITTING ON CAPITAL?!?! That's LITERALLY what capital means, resources removed from the market for the purpose of investment. Big business is now mad it can't steal other peoples' capital for themselves. Under their own economic model. Fuck OFF.

Which is even more insane because having had grandparents that needed to live in assisted living or other nursing facilities, that shit is expensive and used up all of any remaining assets they had. My own parents are surely trying to save for THAT eventuality more than anything else.

Wow, giving retired workers financial security made them active participants in the economy, and taking that security away made them retreat from spending, clearly the solution is to convince all the individual retirees to pretend their individual, exhaustible savings are perpetual income
