I'll add to this thread when I have more time, but I'll say this: Nyanja is not his original name.

There's a reason why this account is named "Shiro Nyanja", and that's because I headcanon that his name was Shiro initially, before taking up the identity of Nyanja.

Shiro lived as a human for 20 years of his life. He became a hikikomori in his teenage years after losing his arm and a childhood of bullying, with Jade being the only one he kept in contact with. He passed away after an incident of drowning at 20 years old before being resurrected as a nekomata.

Having been given a literal second chance at life, Shiro took that opportunity to completely change his life and form a new identity from the ground up. He started participating in Canyon Crossing's annual race across the canyon under the name "Nyanja", which he was eventually known as by everyone.
