when things like *this* happen there will always be people that you cannot please, i understand that, but as long as the relevant parties have been apologised to in a 'proper' manner, even if they do not forgive you, then i think that's kind of all you can do i hope i worded all of this right

accountability means everything in an apology. you may feel shame in your actions, and no one likes to feel that way ever but that's GOOD. remorse is an important feeling and you have to grasp tightly onto it or your words are inherently meaningless and just function as 'damage control'

i made you feel this way, if i seemed like this etc. i feel there should never be an if, and when i find myself accidentally putting it into my apology, i take it out. using the word 'if' is one sure-fire way to gaslight someone about their feelings and that is never ok
