I feel like this post is a great excuse to one again say that Wrath Goddess Sing by @mayadeane.bsky.social remains one of the best and most complex retellings of the Illiad i've read and you should all read it

The big modern trans Achilles story is of course Wrath Goddess Sing which an incredible read and just drags Odysseus the whole time he's on Skyros. "Is the plan just to wave nice swords around until you run into someone who gets hard? 'Oh swords, I love swords, let me show you my meat sword?'"
