If, as hoped, we get a national ban on pavement parking, it can be argued that proper parking facilities had issues like fines for minor overstays sorted out but that required you not to park on pavements.

By taking those minor frustrations out of a day you will tend to think things are getting better. Most people’s lives in the west are relatively okay, and negativity is magnified by petty bureaucracy, but that then overshadows the big stuff. It can also be a bargaining point.
