More dangerous is the precedent that dogma over-rides good clinical care for a group of vulnerable people. I would hope that Clinicians would stand up against this, but I fear they won’t. (I am no longer an insider but I have no faith in the BMA)

In spring 2026 there was a criminal conviction at Inner London Crown Court. In 2022 a young transman, newly arrived on an all-male psychiatric unit at Lambeth Hospital, was immediately clocked by other patients to be female-bodied, and was raped. Young transmen need protecting from naive ideology.

Ian, you say ‘cruel’ as if there’s been no consideration, just wanton nastiness. But you know full well that the risk of harms to women (patients and staff, and including transmen) are huge and the perpetrators are overwhelmingly men (a cohort including transwomen). Ideological naivety is dangerous.
