Well, but TLJ ends with Rey holding the collected broken lightsaber pieces and asking "How do we build a Rebellion from this?"; then Leia holds her hand-still holding the saber!- and says "We have everything we need." and the camera pulls out to show the collected, broken pieces of the Resistance.

Kylo destroys his helmet in a rage after Snoke mocks him as a "child in a mask". But even after killing Snoke, he doesn't abandon the past; he declares himself the new Supreme Leader and uses its Star Destroyers, stormtroopers and AT-ATs to fight a battle against the Resistance (in a Rebel base!)

I don't know. I honestly think the people who, all they can see in RoS is JUST JJ just writing over TLJ, their judgement is clouded. They heard things about the production, made up their mind it would be bad, hunted for things in the film that would support the conclusion that many already came to.

The notion that Kylo Ren's trilogy story arc was going to be "What if a guy chose to be evil and then he was, and nothing anybody ever said or did to him mattered" ignores how stories work, all of Star Wars themes, and the events of the films. Even DotF draft 1 ends with a tiny Kylo redemption!
