This was a great article but I think this part in particular encapsulates what I feel is the real problem with this "what to do with Jacob Geller" discourse. He lied to us all because he wanted to make money as an influential video essayist. Tl;dr most YouTubers are scumbags.

it was smart of jacob geller to only post about what he did to his 50k followers on here instead of to his 1.5 million youtube subs or on his patreon. that way fewer people know about it and he limits the financial hit

this is a very thoughtful and nuanced piece. i think this paragraph is especially important to keep in mind. a lot of people are talking about geller as if he has spent the last ten years doing his best to atone for what he did, or asking if ten years of "good work" can outweigh one rape.
