At sunset, sitting in a bird hide counting birds coming into a reed bed roost, a Red Deer hind and calf came into feed, with a stag. Almost like a family they fed together: as the stag washed his antlers a Barn Owl drifted past, just outside the window. All round the bellows of the rut: very happy.

Spent some time watching this Pied Wagtail mooching about in the weed on the high tide line. It would regularly jump into the air, chasing flies I guess. #birds 🪶

Met up with @ckphotography.bsky.social yesterday afternoon and enjoyed a couple of hours down Rampside and the Roa Island Causway. Good showing including Curlew, Brent Geese, Pied Wagtail and Little Egret…oh and this handsome Northern Wheatear #birds 🪶
