I do cross-disciplinary work & am PhD’ing in a different discipline than I worked in for 8 years pre-PhD. I’m finding my footing enough to start to feel valued in this discipline, but I still almost burst into tears in relief the other week when I met someone who knew & valued my background, too 🥲
