When re-coloring and re-lighting Sam & Max's office for the remaster, we ultimately ended up centering on two sources: the colors from Steve Purcell's paintings of the office, especially this from Fox Kids magazine, and the way Sam & Max Hit the Road used crisp-edged spotlights with wild abandon:
Show PostWe ultimately thought the stylized comic book look was a step too far for the game. It worked in that office sketch, but didn't translate as well to many of the other scenes, would be very costly to make, and was a huge departure from the original. So we got to work on "the original but way nicer."
