Strangers' concerns have stopped trans people being able to access appropriate services. Family concerns are being used to stop trans people accessing healthcare and surgery. We're just not people in the UK.

If the general message to younger generations, conveyed loudly and repeatedly, is "Shut up and eat it," then we shouldn't act surprised that some express their resentment by spitting it back out into this or that particular person's face. It's sad yes, but not incomprehensible.

I've been thinking about how, just a few days ago, a sitting Welsh Labour MP made a series of remarks expressing the view that trans people and their allies should be expected to put their own interests, preferences and personal safety aside in order to be more accommodating to their bigoted elders.

And yet most of these same authors support maintaining the systems of capitalism and colonialism that are causing these rifts in the first place through generational trauma, destroying community support, and putting wildly unsustainable pressure on families to provide all their kids' needs.
