my mom's dad got in debt to the florida mafia 50 large (in the 1950s!) and after her mom died, her rich, well-connected uncles paid off the debt on the condition that he disappear and never contact his 6 kids again and they put the kids in a local orphanage, which turned out to be fundamentalist

I worked 5 hours at a Burger King. I was barely trained and they put me on drive-through. A guy was really rude with me and called me a slur because I was too slow for him so I "tripped" and spilled a strawberry milkshake into his car. Then I walked out. I refused to be called slurs for $5/hr.
