This letter was "Scrybled in the Mary Rose at Plymmouth the xiiij day of May." in 1513 by Admiral Thomas Howard. If you can't read it, he calls Plymouth the worst harbour in England and complains about difficulties in getting supplies. @maryrosemuseum.bsky.social #Tudors

Can thoroughly recommend going to see the #MaryRose in the museum at #Portsmouth as the ship is spectacular and the galleries are full of amazing things retrieved from the ocean depths with it. #stunning We’re looking forward to making a second (& possibly third) visit on the annual ticket!!

Visited it on my bucket list trip to Portsmouth several years back. One of many delights in Pompey.
