This is the take. It sucks to learn about a coworker or company's alleged behaviour, and be left thinking "...Okay, now what? The ink is already dry." This is especially awful if someone's accused of a crime, because speaking out without a smoking gun is a recipe for a defamation lawsuit.

Some of the worst people I know have worn their emotions on their sleeve - they feel deeply, which on its own is not inherently bad, but are so absorbed in how they feel that they often end up dismissive of how others feel. I’ve BEEN this asshole before, and it sucks for others to deal with.
Show PostI believe empathy is something you do, not something you are. To confuse that is to think your way of feeling about things is the “right” way. We all have times where we suck at empathy, myself included! Hell, some of the kindest, most sensitive folks I know have had moments where they slip up.
Show PostThe older I get, the less patience I have for people who call themselves “empaths”. Sometimes being sensitive to people’s emotions just means… being sensitive to people’s emotions. It doesn’t mean you care more than others or that you’re a “better person”. Empathy is a basic trait - not a cudgel.
