As a kids' non fic publisher, I took it as my duty to check facts using subject experts, where the author wasn't an expert. (You can take the publisher out of Usborne, you can't take the Usborne out of the publisher.) But whoever's job it truly is, don't throw your editor under a bus, lads!

I'm so proud & grateful to have been awarded the 2026 Rose Mary Crawshay prize for Textile Shakespeare, joining a roll-call of amazing women scholars and critics. At the ceremony last night I spoke about some of my foremothers as a NZer & a Cambridge Shakespearean, as well as my family.
