Yeah, sometimes I feel like it isn't my place to complain about Akiba since I first visited in "only" 2009, at which point traditional shops were already getting displaced by maid cafes, etc. But even compared to that, I don't recognize a lot of it anymore beyond the broad strokes and even then.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm slowly losing touch with contemporary American English, living abroad and all, but then these people dropped the term bomb "recessmaxxing" without warning and the emotions I've felt ever since have been the only answer I need. American English has never been more dangerous.
