I found out tonight that Squad, which is my book about the town I grew up in bc I hated it, is assigned reading in AP English class in the town where I grew up and I am absolutely beside myself. It's not a dream it even occurred to me to have.

I have finally read, now that it has won its third major award, "Why Don't We Just Kill the Kid In the Omelas Hole" by @isabel.kim (congratulations on the Locus!), and it is the gut punch I feared and expected it to be and deserving of all the awards.
