I’m having a hard time understanding all the celebration around the Alberta vote. Sure, they rejected separation, but that was never the point of the referendum. The government was seeking permission to institute racist policies… and they got it!

I saw somebody suggesting that maybe the real reason for the referendum was to get all the other racist shit they voted for on record so they can point to it and truthfully say "Alberta citizens demand no brown children!" I'm not Canadian and even I knew everything else would be a yes.

That said, it's super amusing that other than the separatism question, the only other one of Premier Fifth Column's questions that looks likely to go down to defeat is the one that asks: "Would you like to have your cake and eat it too?"

Looks like Alberta remains Canadian and also remaining utterly, deplorably racist. Because make no mistake: those questions are all racism barely disguised as fiscal conservatism.
