I miss the days when editor updates was targeted at developers rather than AI agents. Sure, agentic AI and such can be amazing, but the _editor_ is primarily the domain of a human developer in my world. When I want to be agentic I use pi.dev or some other dedicated agentic harness.

The test I use on editor releases: count changelog lines about cursor motion or a keybinding. If that count is near zero while the agent pane got the hero shot, the update shipped for the harness, not for the person typing.

Some of these changes have even veen merged and released already. But they tend to appear under the “Thank you” section of the release notes, so they’re not as prominent as the highlights.
